Tejano singer and rising Latin pop artist Amanda Solis steps into the spotlight this holiday season as the star of Chasing Christmas, a heartfelt short film written, directed, and produced by Danny “Smokebeatz” Blanco for A Badass Film Company.
The festive short follows a person’s frantic search for a rare toy on Christmas Eve, blending suspense, humor, and emotion into a holiday adventure full of twists and turns. Solis stars as Aliza, a hardworking single mother who comes home on Christmas Eve to her daughter, Anna, only to realize she’s forgotten the one gift her child truly wanted—a rare Fuzzy Boo doll.
With stores closed and time quickly slipping away, Aliza turns to her rough-around-the-edges downstairs neighbor Ryan, a print shop delivery driver who just might know how to find anything. Determined to give her daughter a small win after her father walked out of their lives, Aliza agrees to trust Ryan’s unconventional methods, sending him across town on a risky search that tests courage, trust, and ultimately the true meaning of Christmas.
Chasing Christmas showcases Solis’ ability to translate vulnerability and strength onto the screen, adding another dimension to her growing résumé. Beyond her music career, Solis has built a solid acting portfolio, including portraying Selena Quintanilla-Perez in a 2017 episode of the REELZ documentary-series Murder Made Me Famous centered on the late Latin music icon. A longtime Selena tribute artist, Solis also lent her voice to the popular adventure video game Life Is Strange: True Colors as a Selena fan radio request caller—an Easter egg moment cherished by fans.
Musically, the Houston-based artist released her debut album Space Vaquera in 2024, marking a new chapter as she continues to carve out her own lane in the Tejano and Latin pop landscape after first gaining recognition through her Selena tributes.
With Chasing Christmas, Amanda Solis brings heart, authenticity, and holiday spirit to the screen, reminding viewers that sometimes the greatest gifts are found in unexpected places.
