Tejano music legend Jay Perez, affectionately known as “The Voice,” is back this holiday season with a fresh rendition of the timeless Christmas classic, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” Originally recorded by Andy Williams in 1963 and written by Eddie Pola and George Wyle, the song receives a smooth and emotionally rich interpretation through Jay’s signature vocal style.
This new release, available on all digital music platforms, is particularly meaningful as it marks Jay’s first new Christmas recording in nearly 20 years, delighting longtime fans and the Tejano music community alike. The track was recorded at the acclaimed Legends Sound Studios in Corpus Christi, Texas, with executive production by The Martinez Brothers – Freddie Martinez Jr., John Martinez, and Marc Martinez.
Production duties were shared by Jay Perez and his longtime band leader Jay Alaniz, alongside Mariano Herrera, who also handled recording, mixing, and mastering. Reflecting on the release, Jay says, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year has always been one of my personal favorite Christmas songs. It speaks to some of the most beautiful moments that we share during the holiday season. It’s certainly my favorite time of the year, so having the opportunity to share my version of this classic with my fans makes it very special.”
Jay’s holiday music legacy includes his 2008 album A Jay Perez Christmas, later digitally remastered in 2019, featuring timeless favorites like “This Christmas,” “O Holy Night,” “White Christmas,” and “Merry Christmas Darling.” True to his style, Jay blends traditional holiday sounds with smooth Tejano flair, making this festive collection a must-have for holiday playlists everywhere.
With his latest single, Jay Perez proves once again why he remains a beloved voice in Tejano music, spreading warmth, joy, and holiday cheer to fans everywhere.
