HOUSTON, TX — Amanda Solis has once again poured her heart and soul into her music, releasing an unplugged acoustic version of her emotional track “Mi Sombra” in celebration of her late nephew Armando “LiL T” Tello’s birthday.
Originally released this summer, “Mi Sombra” — from Solis’ debut album Space Vaquera (December 2024) — is more than just a song; it’s a deeply personal tribute to her beloved nephew, whose spirit continues to inspire her artistic journey.
Solis shared her motivation for revisiting the song in a stripped-down format. “My nephew Lil T’s birthday just passed, so my team and I wanted to honor him in a way that came straight from the heart,” she said. “We created an acoustic version of ‘Mi Sombra’ and filmed an unplugged music video as a tribute to his beautiful spirit for his bday.”
The new acoustic version features Solis accompanied by guitarist Humberto Ramon II, delivering a raw and intimate performance captured in the studio. The accompanying video gives fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the recording session — an emotional yet uplifting celebration of love, loss, and legacy.
“This project means so much to me not only because it’s for him,” Solis added. “But because so many of you have been part of my musical journey from the very beginning. Your love, support, and encouragement have helped me keep his memory alive through my music.”

Solis, who began her career as a Selena tribute artist, continues to establish herself as one of Tejano music’s brightest rising stars. Her evolution as a songwriter and performer is reflected not only in her music but also in her recognition — she leads all nominees with five nominations at the second annual Texas Pura Vida Awards taking place this weekend in San Antonio. Her nominations include Female Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Space Vaquera, Single of the Year, and Video of the Year.
Though Amanda Solis first gained national attention for her uncanny vocal resemblance to the late Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, it’s her own original music — sincere, soulful, and rooted in real emotion — that’s carving out her true artistic legacy. With each release, Solis continues to redefine what it means to be a proud Latina artist from Texas in today’s regional Mexican landscape.
