HOUSTON, TX — Regional Mexican singer-songwriter Lucy Rodríguez is giving fans a first taste of her long-awaited new single “Cómo lo Olvido”, a powerful cumbia that dives into the hidden pain of forbidden love. The track officially drops across all digital platforms on September 30 under Emerald Records.
Described as a story wrapped in rhythm and longing, “Cómo lo Olvido” tells the tale of a woman trapped in the spiral of loving someone she can never have. Though she knows he belongs to another, her heart refuses to let go. One line in particular — “Cómo diablos me olvido de él, para no sufrir” — resonates deeply with Rodríguez. “It’s my personal favorite,” she says, “because it cuts like a whispered cry into the night.”
The single has been three years in the making, with Rodríguez working closely alongside San Antonio-based producer Sevy Contreras to capture her exact vision. “I kept coming back to this track over the years, knowing it wasn’t finished,” Rodríguez explains. “I didn’t want to release it until it felt right—and now, it does.”
Penned by Sandra María Uribe Díaz of Colima, Mexico, and Juan Luís Soria of Chihuahua, Mexico, the song blends lyrical finesse with poetic regret, perfectly aligning with Rodríguez’s signature style of dark feminine storytelling and soul-baring emotion.
“Cómo lo Olvido” is already making waves at radio this week, giving listeners a preview of the heartfelt cumbia before its official release.
With a career spanning decades, Lucy Rodríguez has carved out a unique place in Latin music. Known for weaving classic Regional Mexican textures with raw honesty and modern depth, her catalog ranges from emotional ballads to sultry cumbias — each carrying her trademark mix of nostalgia, fire, and unapologetic vulnerability.
