LOS ANGELES, CA — BMI recently brought together a powerhouse lineup of emerging and established talent for the “Las Compositoras+” song camp, a three-day creative retreat dedicated to amplifying diverse voices in música Mexicana.
Held in Los Angeles and led by acclaimed songwriter Erika Vidrio, the camp featured an eclectic roster of artists including Paulina B, Celimar, Amanda Coronel, Delilah, Lupita Infante, Michelle Maciel, Karen Moon, and Ashlee Valenzuela. The immersive sessions fostered collaboration among participants, resulting in original songs with potential for future placements.

The experience kicked off with gifts from sponsors, including Fender Acoustasonics and Gretsch Rancher Acoustics guitars, plus Studio One 7 software and gear from PreSonus, setting the stage for creativity. On the final day, the group gathered at NRG Recording Studios to record their new material, bringing their ideas to life in a professional setting.
“The Las Compositoras+ song camp is about fostering collaboration, supporting our songwriters and building a creative community,” said Lilibeth Patron, BMI’s Associate Director, Creative, Latin. “Together, with the support of our sponsors, we were able to provide a platform and create a unique experience for female songwriters and creators in the LGBTQ+ community in música Mexicana.”
Sponsors for the camp included Fender, PreSonus, Muso.AI, NRG Recording Studios, and mitú, who also served as the dedicated media sponsor, documenting the journey and spotlighting the participating composers.
The initiative reflects BMI’s long-standing commitment to supporting songwriters. Since 1939, the organization has championed diverse creators across genres and today represents more than 1.4 million songwriters, composers, and music publishers worldwide.
