Siggno frontman Jesse Turner is channeling his grief into music after the passing of his mother, Narcisa Cortez Ruiz, who died on Monday, August 25, at the age of 86.
Just days later, the Latin Grammy winner entered Legends Sound Studios in Corpus Christi, Texas, to record an emotional new song inspired by his profound loss. Legendary label Freddie Records shared photos from the session, describing the night as “unforgettable” as Turner transformed his tears and anguish into something “truly magical and touching.”
“Music has the power to heal the mind, heart, soul, and body,” Freddie Records shared in a heartfelt statement. “Last night he sure did.”
Earlier this month, Turner also suffered the loss of his grandmother, which inspired him to write a song about the bond between mother and son—one that passes through generations, titled “Vuela Madrecita Vuela.” That song has now taken on an even deeper meaning as Turner faces the loss of his beloved mother.
Narcisa Cortez Ruiz was not only Turner’s guiding light in life but also one of his greatest inspirations in music. Fans may recall her presence at Siggno concerts, where she was often seen praying over her son before he took the stage. Turner’s heartfelt tribute to her, “Mamá,” has long been a fan favorite and now stands as a testament to the enduring love between mother and child.

Freddie Records expressed their support for Turner during this difficult time. “We continue to pray for our dear brother and his family. We ask God to give them strength and heal their broken hearts. Jesse, we love you and are proud of you. We’re with you every step of the way.”
Funeral services for Narcisa Cortez Ruiz have been scheduled:
- Public Viewing: Monday, September 1, from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m., with a service at 6 p.m. at Faith Peases God Churchin Harlingen, Texas.
- Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 2, at 10 a.m. at Santo Nombre Cemetery in Santa Rosa, Texas.
Turner’s latest song, written through heartbreak, is expected to serve as both a personal memorial and a gift of healing for fans who have also experienced the pain of loss.
