Grupo Asalto has released their brand-new single and music video, “Te Quiero Amar,” an upbeat cumbia that promises to get the crowd moving with its rhythm and party vibes. Written by Asalto frontman Jordan Rodriguez and seasoned songwriter Jonathan Espinoza, the track was recorded at RPZ Music with producer Anthony Perez.
“Te Quiero Amar” is the first single from Asalto’s highly anticipated EP expected in late Fall. “It was a God-given thing that just came together pretty quick,” Rodriguez told Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo. “Jonathan and I wrote it within minutes, and Anthony added keys and vihuela to really help fill out the song. But our own musicians always bring it to life so when you see us live, you’re hearing the same sound.”
The band continues to blend influences while staying true to their Tejano roots. “We’re not putting ourselves in any one genre,” Rodriguez explained. “We just play music. We’re evolving while honoring the older generation and connecting with the younger generation. This track shows exactly that—there’s even a little midsection with Bad Bunny vibes before breaking back into the cumbia.”
The music video for “Te Quiero Amar” was filmed in Las Vegas during Asalto’s summer performance with Michael Salgado and Louie The Singer, coinciding with the annual Tejano convention. Directed by MikeShotIt (Michael Salgado, Jr.) with editing by Mike and Julia Lopez at The Element in San Antonio, the video captures the upbeat, festive spirit the band wanted. “Vegas was the perfect backdrop,” said Rodriguez. “We just wanted a fun vibe surrounded by friends, and that’s exactly what the video delivers.”

“We’re just doing everything we can to put ourselves in a position to be heard and to put out music that we’re proud of,” added Rodriguez.
