Today we celebrate the birthday of Tony Guerrero, founding member of the legendary Tejano group La Sombra, affectionately known as The Windy City Boys. From their hometown of Aurora, Illinois, La Sombra became one of the most influential and groundbreaking bands in Tejano music history, blending hip hop and R&B into the genre long before crossover was common.
Together with his brothers Cruz Guerrero and Gavino Guerrero, Tony helped lead La Sombra to unprecedented success, releasing more than 20 full-length albums over four decades, earning GRAMMY nominations, and leaving a permanent mark on Tejano culture. Their high-energy performances, unique choreography, and innovative sound earned them legions of fans across the U.S. and Mexico.
