HOUSTON, TX — La Mafia, the two-time Grammy and three-time Latin Grammy-winning powerhouse, has reintroduced fans to one of their most treasured tracks with the remastered release of “Oh Girl.” Originally featured on their 1982 album The Magnificent 7, the song holds a special place in Tejano history as the only English-language track to ever win Song of the Year at the Tejano Music Awards in 1983.
First recorded by soul group The Chi-Lites in 1972—where it became their only No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100—La Mafia’s rendition quickly became a fan favorite, featuring the soulful vocals of frontman Oscar De La Rosa. Now available on all digital music platforms, the newly remastered version promises to deliver the same emotional impact it had over 40 years ago, but with enhanced clarity and depth.
“La Mafia is bringing ‘Oh Girl’ back like you’ve never heard it before,” the group shared on social media. “True fans know this song holds stories, memories, and feelings that are never forgotten.”
Still going strong after forming in Houston in 1980, La Mafia continues to be a dominant force in Latin music. Their Vive El Momento Tour 2025 is playing to sold-out crowds across the U.S. and Mexico, and their ventures now include their own premium tequila brand launched last year. De La Rosa and producer/keyboardist Armando Lichtenberger Jr. have led the group to dozens of chart-topping hits and cemented their place in Tejano history.
With “Oh Girl” reborn for a new era, La Mafia proves that timeless music never fades—it only gets better with age.
