La Mafia Brings Back Iconic 1982 Hit with Remastered Release of ‘Oh Girl’

HOUSTON, TX — La Mafia, the two-time Grammy and three-time Latin Grammy-winning powerhouse, has reintroduced fans to one of their most treasured tracks with the remastered release of “Oh Girl.” Originally featured on their 1982 album The Magnificent 7, the song holds a special place in Tejano history as the only English-language track to ever win Song of the Year at the Tejano Music Awards in 1983.

First recorded by soul group The Chi-Lites in 1972—where it became their only No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100—La Mafia’s rendition quickly became a fan favorite, featuring the soulful vocals of frontman Oscar De La Rosa. Now available on all digital music platforms, the newly remastered version promises to deliver the same emotional impact it had over 40 years ago, but with enhanced clarity and depth.

Still going strong after forming in Houston in 1980, La Mafia continues to be a dominant force in Latin music. De La Rosa and producer/keyboardist Armando Lichtenberger Jr. have led the group to dozens of chart-topping hits and cemented their place in Tejano history.
