HOLLYWOOD, CA — Tejano roots and independent artistry took center stage on July 30th at Avalon Hollywood as Estani x Los Texmaniacs captured the Best Latin Traditional award at the 2025 Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA) for their powerful single, “Mi Suerte Ha Cambiado.”
The award-winning track, a heartfelt reimagining of a nearly 50-year-old song originally recorded by Estani’s grandmother and Conjunto pioneer Rosita Lopez, is a soulful tribute to Estani’s family legacy and the enduring spirit of South Texas music. Backed by Grammy-winning legends Los Texmaniacs, Estani brought a fresh, yet deeply rooted sound that resonated with both fans and HIMA voters alike.
“WE WON!!!! OMG!!” Estani shared in an emotional post. “I am soooo humbled, honored, privileged, and blessed to be nominated and recognized by the Hollywood Independent Music Awards in the Best Latin Traditional Category for Mi Suerte Ha Cambiado. I’m so grateful this song and music has been recognized and am looking forward to what’s next!”
Estani used the HIMA platform not only to celebrate the win, but also to honor the cultural heritage that inspired the project. “Thankful to be able to bring a little bit of South Texas and San Antonio to Hollywood,” she said. “This is for everyone who helped make this vision real—it truly takes a village.”
The HIMA is more than just an awards show—it’s a launchpad for independent artists. Founded by Brent Harvey, the event connects creatives with top music industry professionals, including publishers, supervisors, producers, and labels. “The HIMA is an opportunity disguised as an awards show,” said Harvey. “Sure, we celebrate talent, but it’s about making career-changing connections in real time.”
“Mi Suerte Ha Cambiado” is the debut release from Estani’s Conjunto-inspired album Tú De Mí Te Acordarás and upcoming documentary project, a deeply personal journey through the music that shaped her upbringing. Known for her genre-blending style, Estani is now stepping confidently into her Conjunto roots, paying homage while pushing boundaries. With the masterful guidance of Max Baca and Los Texmaniacs, the single pairs vintage authenticity with modern flair—complete with accordion soul, harmonic richness, and a danceable groove.
