Los Hermanos Peña are turning up the heat this summer with a powerful new collaboration featuring Tejano powerhouse Chente Barrera on their upcoming single, “Mariachis, Ya No Toquen.” The track, written by Tejano songwriting icon Plácido Salazar, brings together two generations of talent for a soulful, heartfelt anthem that honors the roots of the genre while pushing it forward.
“We’re beyond excited to work with one of the best voices in the business,” the band shared. “We’ve never had a voice like his paired with our music—and the result is something really special. We can’t wait to hear the response from the public.”
The unexpected collaboration began after Chente Barrera called into Bumper Gomez’s popular Wacky Wednesday show to offer support for Los Hermanos Peña. The band was blown away. “It still humbles us to know that someone who’s helped define today’s Tejano sound—like Chente—has been listening to our music since the ’90s,” they said.
“Mariachis, Ya No Toquen” will be the lead single off Los Hermanos Peña’s forthcoming EP The West Texas Sessions, a dynamic new project showcasing the band’s trademark blend of Tejano and Conjunto styles. The EP will include original material as well as covers of timeless classics—and, for the first time, reimagined versions of modern hits through the group’s unique lens.
The single is set for release in the coming weeks, with The West Texas Sessions expected later this year. Stay tuned to Tejano Nation for updates and the official release date.
