Tejano music legend Gary Hobbs was forced to postpone his highly anticipated performance at Pure Tejano Bar & Grill in Lubbock, Texas, on Friday night (July 18) due to unexpected mechanical issues with his tour bus en route to the venue.
The “Maldito Amor” singer took to social media to share the unfortunate news with fans. “To our Tejano Music family and friends in Lubbock, Texas, we’re disappointed in letting you all know that due to unforeseen circumstances on the road we won’t be able to make tonight’s show,” Hobbs posted. “Nothing to do with Pure Tejano or the radio station. We hope to reschedule soon. Our apologies. God bless.”
Pure Tejano Bar & Grill also released a statement confirming the cancellation, citing the bus breakdown as the reason. “Unfortunately Gary Hobbs’ bus has broken down so he will not be able to make it tonight,” read the venue’s announcement. “We will give everybody a refund for tickets and tables tonight. Please have your tickets and receipts for tables with you or we cannot issue any refunds! We apologize for any inconvenience… he will be scheduled for a later date. We will keep you guys updated on when that will be.”
Despite the setback, fans won’t have to wait long to see Hobbs perform again. The Tejano star is scheduled to appear at the 44th annual Las Fiestas de Amarillo on Sunday, July 20, at the grounds of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Amarillo, Texas.
Hobbs is currently promoting his latest album Soy Libre, released in May under the legendary Freddie Records label. The album marks his second release with the iconic Tejano imprint and showcases his continued passion and artistry.
With a career spanning over four decades, Gary Hobbs is considered one of the most enduring and beloved figures in Tejano music. Rising to fame in the early 1980s, the Eagle Pass, Texas native has delivered countless hits including “Las Miradas,” “Te Vas A Acordar,” and “Por Favor Corazón.” Known for his powerful vocals, heartfelt ballads, and unwavering connection with fans, Hobbs has remained a staple on Tejano airwaves and stages for more than 42 years.
Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to Pure Tejano Bar & Grill and Gary Hobbs’ official social media channels for updates on the rescheduled Lubbock date.
