Espinoza, whose voice helped define the early sound of “The Pride of Pasadena,” made a special return during Fiebre Fest, the band’s 40th anniversary celebration held in their hometown of Pasadena, Texas on May 24. The event marked a powerful reunion as Espinoza and Cantu shared vocal duties on stage, joined by two other original members of the band.

Cantu expressed his excitement on social media ahead of the anniversary show, writing, “I’m very excited to announce that I’ll be sharing the stage with the original singer of La Fiebre, Pete Espinoza! We’ll be singing some songs together, along with two other original members of the band from back in the day hitting the stage with us!”

While Cantu remains the current lead singer of La Fiebre, he is taking time off to focus on his health. In a message to fans, he reassured supporters of his return, saying, “Yes, I am still the lead singer of La Fiebre, just taking some time off. The guys are still going to perform because we have contracts we need to fulfill. I’ll be back soon. Thank you all so much for your concern — see y’all out there soon.”

In addition to Espinoza, former La Fiebre band member and accomplished musician and vocalist JR Gomez stepped in for a high-energy performance at The New Beer Depot in San Antonio on Sunday, June 15. Gomez, who has fronted his own band and has deep roots in Tejano music, brought the crowd to life and shared his gratitude in a post-show message: “What a night! I wanna thank my brothers from La Fiebre for trusting me with the vocals while J Angel Cantu recovers. It’s always a blast on stage. Man, it was a packed house at The New Beer Depot last night!”

Fans will have another chance to catch Espinoza in action when he once again joins La Fiebre, along with JR Gomez, to perform a few songs during their upcoming free show on Friday, June 20 at the Texas Rodeo Saloon in Katy, Texas. The following night, La Fiebre will perform at in Legends Dance Hall in New Braunfels, Texas, on June 21. The special appearance promises unforgettable nights as the band continues to honor its roots while moving forward.

Despite the recent changes, La Fiebre continues to move full steam ahead. The group recently released their latest album, “Raíces,” featuring the hit lead single “Ayúdame” — currently climbing Tejano radio and airplay charts. The album pays homage to the band’s enduring legacy while embracing fresh influences and pushing their signature Tejano-Rock fusion into bold new territory.
