Latin Country singer Sammy Arriaga is paying homage to one of the most iconic figures in Latin music with his latest release and music video, “Selena.” The emotional tribute honors the enduring legacy of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, the beloved Queen of Tejano, whose influence continues to resonate across genres and generations.
“This one means the world to me,” Arriaga shared via social media. “It’s more than a trip down memory lane — it’s my tribute to the queen herself, Selena Quintanilla. She left us way too soon, but through this song, I get to help keep her name and legacy alive, the Country music way. What an honor.”
Born in Miami to Cuban parents, Arriaga grew up surrounded by Latin rhythms before finding his voice in the heart of Country music: Nashville, Tennessee. That rich cultural blend gave rise to his signature sound — a seamless fusion of Latin flair and Country storytelling that sets him apart in today’s music scene.
Arriaga first made waves with his debut album Boots x Beats in 2021, a genre-bending collection that captured the pulse of Miami and the heart of the American South. Since then, he’s continued to build his unique lane, including with Seven Roses Vol. 1, a project that reimagines Country favorites in Spanish and Spanglish.
Now, with “Selena,” Arriaga takes listeners on an emotional journey, one that bridges cultures and celebrates a shared musical heritage as songs of Selena remind him of a lost love. The music video adds powerful visuals to the heartfelt lyrics, reinforcing the impact Selena had not only on the Latin music world but also on artists across genres.
