Freddie Records has fans buzzing with excitement after releasing a teaser on social media Wednesday for the official music video of “Incompetente En El Amor”, the latest single from Tejano icon and current Tejano Music Awards Male Vocalist of the Year, Jay Perez — affectionately known as “The Voice.”
The world premiere of the full music video is set for Thursday, April 17th at 6:30 PM CST, and will be available exclusively on YouTube.com/FreddieRecordsTV.
“Incompetente En El Amor” is the lead single from Jay’s forthcoming album, slated for release in early 2025. The track follows a string of recent hits including “Necesito Odiarte,” “La Rajita De Canela,” “Dices,” and “Vino Maldito” featuring David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales. It also comes on the heels of Jay’s 2024 TMA win for Song of the Year.
Produced by Jay Perez’s longtime music director Jay Alaniz and engineered by Mariano Herrera, the single showcases a midtempo conjunto arrangement filled with rich accordion and bajo quinto. The melodic structure and heartfelt chorus are elevated by Jay’s signature emotive vocals, making this track a standout addition to his already legendary catalog.
The song was penned by the acclaimed songwriting duo Oscar Antonio Rosas Rodriguez and Leopoldo Zuniga Cano. Executive producers for the project include The Martinez Brothers — Freddie Martinez, Jr., John Martinez, and Marc Martinez.
“Incompetente En El Amor” made its official radio debut in December, and was released across all digital music platforms a few weeks later. A lyric video premiered on December 19, and now, fans will finally get to experience the full visual production.
