Michael Salgado, a two-time Latin Grammy winner and a defining figure in Norteño and Tejano music, is marking an incredible milestone in 2025: 30 years in the music industry. To celebrate, the iconic musician is embarking on a special anniversary tour that began last month in Austin, Texas. The tour features a mix of timeless classics and fan-favorite hits from his extensive catalog, celebrating his remarkable three-decade career.
In a recent interview with Fierro HD afternoon host Bo Corona, Salgado opened up about his tour and what fans can expect from his performances. Reflecting on his 30-year journey, he expressed amazement at how quickly time has passed. “It’s crazy to think that it’s already been 30 years,” Salgado said. “It just seemed like it was a couple of days ago.”
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Salgado is revisiting his roots, taking fans back to the groundbreaking Cruz de Madera album. The tour’s setlist is packed with the early hits that made him a household name, including Sin Ella, Palomita Blanca, El Día Que Te Fuiste, and Esta Noche. Salgado plans to also incorporate songs from later albums like Sangre de Rey and Homenaje a Mis Ídolos, offering a blend of nostalgia and fresh energy.
“It’s been a journey, and we’re starting from the beginning, playing a lot of the old stuff,” Salgado explained. “I think as fans, they want to hear the songs that were rocking back in the day.”
While fans can expect a heavy dose of older hits, Salgado also teased the possibility of throwing in some surprises, like his track El Gallo Desplumado. “The crowd always asks for it, and I’m happy to give them what they want,” he said.
And if you’re lucky, you might even catch Salgado sporting one of his vintage jackets from his early days on stage, or even shaving his beard to throw it back to his ’90s look. “Who knows, I might get the nerve,” he joked. “But no one really wants me to do that.”
The tour, which is already underway, spans across Texas, California, Idaho, and beyond, with more dates expected to be added soon. Fans of Salgado’s music—spanning generations—can look forward to seeing him perform live, reconnecting with old favorites while also witnessing his ongoing passion for Tejano and Norteño music.
