Monica Saldivar and Shelly Lares Lead Nominations for Premios Tejano Mundial 2025

Rising star and Tejano legend dominate the list ahead of the annual awards show in February

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Academy of Tejano Music has unveiled the Top 5 nominees for the highly anticipated 5th annual Premios Tejano Mundial 2025, with Monica Saldivar leading all artists with an impressive seven nominations. The award show, which honors excellence in the Tejano music industry, will be held on February 20, 2025, at the San Antonio Shrine Auditorium.

Saldivar, a rising star in the Tejano scene, earned nominations across multiple categories including Female Vocal Performance of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year in various genres such as Balada, Chicano, Conjunto, Cumbia, and Mariachi.

Meanwhile, Shelly Lares, a Tejano legend who retired from touring a couple of years ago, continues to make her mark with six nominations. Lares garnered recognition for her work in Songwriter, Producer, and Engineer categories, as well as in the Song of the Year categories for Country, Gospel, and Balada for her collaboration with Carlos P. Garcia. Despite stepping back from the road, Lares remains a dominant force in the genre.

Other artists receiving multiple nominations include Gabriella Martinez, Stefani Montiel, Emanuel J, Angelica Y Moneda, and Juan Treviño, each securing at least three nominations across various categories. These artists, representing a mix of established talents and emerging voices, highlight the continued growth and diversity of Tejano music.

The Premios Tejano Mundial celebrates achievements in the Tejano music world, recognizing artists, performers, songwriters, and producers. The voting process for certain categories, including Entertainer of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Group/Duo of the Year, and Collaboration of the Year, was open to the public, with the final results determined by fans who cast their votes by January 12, 2025. Other categories, such as Female and Male Vocal Performances and Song of the Year, will be voted on exclusively by Tejano Music Recording Academy members, while the Video of the Year will be selected by a committee.
