
San Antonio, TX – Tejano music legend Shelly Lares wed makeup artist and hairstylist Mia Gutierrez in an intimate and elegant ceremony with the theme “Two Brides Are Better Than One.” Shelly’s sister Patti Lares Puente officiated the ceremony at the Grand Event Center in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Latin Groove News reports that the ceremony was a “star-studded event” with many Tejano stars in attendance, including Stefani Montiel, Gabriel Zavala, Elida Reyna, Patsy Torres, Rebecca Valadez, Alicia C, Jenny B, Rev Ray, Eric Lee, and Sevy Contreras, among many others.
The couple met in December 2017 and began dating a month later in January 2018. The proposal was made at the Pearl Amphitheatre on December 26, 2022.
In an Instagram post, Lares expressed her joy, saying, “We are still on cloud 9 from our beautiful wedding! From day one, we have enjoyed every minute together. We couldn’t be happier!! We definitely want to thank our family and friends who went above and beyond to make our day special. They worked so hard for us.”
She continued, “We are definitely going to be sharing more pictures and all of the beautiful details of our wedding soon!! We just wanted to share one of the beautiful photos captured. Thank you to our guests for the love, support, gifts, cards, and those that have sent congrats and blessings! We are also planning a friends celebration for my musical family and peers. God knows I know A LOT of people! We love everyone!”
Shelly Lares, who retired from touring at the end of 2022 after a 40-year career, has since focused on producing music with her own record label, Shell Shock Records 3, and mentoring the next generation of Tejano stars. The award-winning singer-songwriter was named the first artist-in-residence at the University of Texas at San Antonio School of Music in September 2023. Known for her powerful voice and dedication to Tejano music, Shelly has left an indelible mark on the industry and continues to inspire new artists with her passion and talent.
