Corpus Christi, TX – The family of Tejano music legend and iconic TV show host Johnny Canales, who passed away in June, has revealed his final resting place and the plaque to honor him at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, Texas, the same memorial park that includes the gravesite of Latin music legend Selena Quintanilla-Perez.
In a heartfelt video shared on social media, Johnny’s wife, Nora Canales, expressed her gratitude for the support they have received during this difficult time.
“During all this time, we have lost a great figure. A great support for music. For my daughters and me. A husband and the father of my daughters,” Nora said in Spanish. “His plaque has already arrived, his location has already arrived where he is. To all the beautiful people, thank you very much for your prayers. For supporting us in these difficult times that we have been going through.”
Nora continued, “His plaque has arrived. He has the Army seal where he served. He has the cross, the crucifix of his Catholic faith. His name Johnny and his name Juan Jose Canales. And his favorite words. You got it, take it away.”
She added, “Thank God for all the love, all the support you have been able to give him. His legacy will never end. His love for the public will never end. Because now we are going to love him too.”
Nora provided directions to Johnny’s resting place at Seaside Memorial Park, explaining how visitors can find his plaque. She concluded with an emotional message, “Thank you all so much for always being with us. And continue with my daughters and with me. Don’t leave us. And here we are, as always. Your friends, Johnny and Nora Canales. You got it. Take it away.”
