
NASHVILLE, TN. — Michael Salgado, the renowned Tejano and Country music artist, was honored with an Impact Award at the inaugural Origins Impact Awards held at the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday, November 21. The event celebrated artists who have significantly influenced the legacy of Country Music, highlighting the contributions of Black and Brown artists in the genre.
Reflecting on the honor, Salgado shared, “What an incredible night in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Origins Impact Awards! The room filled with so many talented and diverse artists. I’m truly grateful to have received the Honorary Impact Award and to have performed my new collaboration with Leah Turner. I look forward to what the future holds and cherish the memories made with such wonderful people!”
Salgado’s performance included his new collaboration with Latin Country artist Leah Turner, “Para Mi,” and his first Country hit “Honky Tonks and Cantinas.” The Origins Impact Awards, organized by the Black-owned Origins Music Group, aim to honor those who have shaped and elevated Country Music, creating a rich tapestry of diverse voices that inspire future generations.

Corey Jones, CEO of Origins Music Group, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “At Origins Music Group, we believe in the power of music to transcend barriers and foster connection. The Origins Impact Awards is a celebration of a year of impactful work and an opportunity to shine a light on the incredible talent within the BIPOC community. We are excited to honor these artists and continue our mission of elevating underrepresented voices in country music.”
Other honorees at the event included Chapel Hart, Shy Carter, Louie The Singer, and more, making it a night to remember for all attendees.
