Monterrey-based Tejano band El Plan has won their second Latin Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album at the 25th annual Latin Grammy Awards, held on Thursday, November 14, in Miami, Florida. This marks the band’s fifth nomination for Best Tejano Album, having previously won in 2021.
The award-winning album, Imperfecto, showcases El Plan’s ability to blend traditional Tejano rhythms with contemporary influences, creating a unique and engaging listening experience. During their acceptance speech at the Miami Beach Convention Center, El Plan’s frontman Jair Alcalá expressed heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you very much to the Academy, thank you very much. El Plan is turning 20 years old and what a gift, thank you very much. Thank you to the production team, Abelardo Rivera, Victoria Küne, Jimmy Cavazos, the great guests of this album that celebrated our friends this 20th anniversary of El Plan, Flor de Toloache, Franco Escamilla, Israel Morales, Andy Aranda, Pastrana, our families, our friends, all the people in Monterrey. Long live the music of Monterrey, yes sir, and long live the music of Tejano. Arriba México!”
