His tenure with the Royal Jesters produced classics like “Yo Soy Chicano,” and his solo career saw hits like “Entre Mas Lejos Me Vaya” and “Fijate,” both of which earned him Song of the Year honors at the Tejano Music Awards.

Marez’s albums, including “The Voice Is Back” (1986), “Sold Out” (1988), and “El Musicano” (1990), made significant impacts on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Albums chart.
