The 20th Anniversary of the Vegas Tejano Takeover is set to be a historic event this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event kicked off with the Vegas Vibe Pool Party last night, which had to be pushed back to later in the evening due to extreme heat.
Pool Party headliner Stefani Montiel shared the situation in a social media video, “We just got back to the room and we did not get to do a soundcheck because it is 117 degrees and all the iPads, laptops, computers are shutting down.” Stefani’s husband and producer Gabriel Zavala created a makeshift swamp cooler to cool down his equipment for the performance in the extreme heat. Zavala explained, “Even with the laptop and iPad off, it’s already temperature warning that it’s not going to work, it’s that hot here. The show must go on and we’re going to make it happen.”
Despite the extreme heat, the pool party was a success with additional performances from JR Gomez y Los Conjunto Bandits and Los Garcia Brothers, who performed in their signature Zoot suits. “A big THANK YOU to our fans for spending your time with us in this 110 degree heat,” said Joey Garcia, Jr., who also praised his bandmates. “To our guys Oscar, Alex, and Anthony Delagarza, we appreciate your hard work and dedication especially tonight for wearing your complete suits in this weather.”

This year’s Vegas Tejano Takeover promises to be a celebration of Tejano music and culture like no other with performances from La Mafia as well as the return of Elsa Garcia and Grupo Culturas. The event will also celebrate the 55th anniversary of Freddie Records with music legends such as Freddie Martinez, Sunny Ozuna, Augustin Ramirez, and Carlos Guzman.
The lineup also includes David Lee Garza y los Musicales, Los Palominos, and Marcos Orozco y Grupo Rebelde, each bringing their unique style and energy to the stage. The event will also host a special performance by Conjuntazzo, featuring Joel & Sarah, and Laura Denisse y Los Brillantes.
The 20th Anniversary All-Star Jam will feature LA 45, promising a performance that will bring the house down. Other performers include Art Tigerina, The Delta Boyz, and The Homeboyz.
Shellshock Records 3 presents El Gallo Dez, and Conjunto Baraja de Oro will also grace the stage, adding to the diverse range of performances. The event will also feature the Viva Tejana Dance Company, showcasing the rich dance culture associated with Tejano music.
