Tejano music sensation Monica Saldivar unveiled her latest EP, “III,” on May 31. This dynamic musical compilation reflects the multi-award-winning singer’s artistic evolution and her dedication to the rich heritage of Tejano music.
The six-track EP is a collaborative effort between Saldivar and Latin GRAMMY-winning producer Carlos Alvarez. Their combined musical expertise and passion are evident in each track, offering listeners an enthralling experience. The EP also boasts contributions from award-winning engineers, including Jorge “El Güero” Hernandez, Mario Ortiz, Eddie Perez, Nacho Lozano, Gino Rivera, and Vanessa Ayala.
Monica shares her excitement about the EP, “It’s definitely something that I am super excited about. It has a lot of different flavors to it. There’s some cumbias in there, there’s a mariachi song in there. Most of the EP is all about, ironically enough, it’s all about losing love or, you know, kind of some heartache in there. But ultimately, it’s something I feel like people are going to look at and they’re going to be super excited for. It’s definitely a fun album, regardless of the theme of it.”
Monica’s unique voice and emotive lyrics in “III” guide listeners through a journey of emotions, exploring themes of love, heartbreak, and empowerment. From the intense “Dulce Venganza” and “Yo Me Voy” to the poignant “Por Tu Amor” and “Amor De Lejos,” each song highlights Monica’s versatility and deep ties to her cultural roots.
Monica’s favorite song from the EP is the mariachi song, “Dulce Venganza,” written by Eduardo “Yayo” Anguiano and Iván Puente. She describes it as an amazing song that talks about feeling stronger and better since someone left her life. “It’s very strong and it’s different than what I’m used to. And so I’ve always wanted to do a mariachi song or even an album. And so to at least tap into it just a little bit, it was a lot of fun.”
Having already made a significant impact on the Tejano music scene with her previous singles “Para Qué” and “En Realidad,” Monica continues to break new ground and set higher standards with “III,” solidifying her position as one of Tejano music’s rising stars.
