Crystal Torres, the Best New Female Artist winner at the Tejano Music Awards in 2014, is making waves with her latest release, “Que Culpa Tiene el Alcohol”. The song, which translates to “What Fault Does the Alcohol Have”, tells a relatable story of heartbreak and betrayal, a theme that resonates with many listeners.
“I really love it. I don’t necessarily have a sound, per se, but I feel like I’m finally coming into my own as an artist,” Torres said about her new release. She collaborated with Jorge “El Guero” Hernandez and Carlos Alvarez, both Latin Grammy winners, to bring this song to life. The lyrics were penned by Eduardo Gonzales, a songwriter from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico, who discovered Torres on Instagram.

The song is part of Torres’ third album, which she works on alongside several other projects. She is also recording a country album in Nashville and a Tejano album set to release in the next two months. The latter is produced by Anthony Perez, known for his work on “El Amor Que Siento Por Ti” and Norteño version of “El Uno Para El Otro.”
Torres is also excited about her country debut, working with Trisha Yearwood’s musical director, Johnny Garcia. “It’s not every day that someone gets the opportunity to record a Nashville album, much less out of Tejano, so I count myself very, very blessed for this opportunity,” she said.
Despite her success, Torres remains humble and grateful for the support she has received along the way. She credits Beto Elorreaga, a family friend and fellow musician, for connecting her with Garcia and helping her navigate the Nashville music scene.
As for what the future holds, Torres is optimistic but realistic. “I have no idea what is going to happen with country. If I make it, awesome, if I don’t, at least I tried, right?” she said.
With her talent, determination, and the support of her team, there’s no doubt that Crystal Torres is a star on the rise in both the Tejano and country music scenes. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and the magic that can happen when you stay true to your sound.
