Rigo Navaira, the talented musician and singer who earned a Latin Grammy nomination for his work with his sister Destiny Navaira, released his debut solo single and music video for “Luna” on Friday, February 23.
“Luna” is a catchy and romantic song that showcases Rigo’s smooth vocals and versatile style, blending many influences. The song was written by Rigo and Destiny, and produced by Alfonso Herrera under the Unimusik label, based in Monterrey, Nuevo León.
The music video, directed by Waldo Reyes, features Rigo serenading his love interest as he tries to capture her from the moon. The black-and-white video is based on the 1902 science-fiction silent film “A Trip To The Moon” directed by Georges Melies. Rigo is a fan of film, a subject he studied at the University of Texas at Austin.

Rigo said he moved to Mexico to explore his heritage and find inspiration for his solo project, which he announced in November 2023. He said he wanted to create a new sound that reflects his roots and experiences, without being constrained by a genre.
“I like to tell people that my music is from Texas. Texas is a melting pot of musical influences. Pop, rock, R&B, country, and Tejano. My music will stay true to who I am, where I come from, and the experiences I have gained throughout my life. A new sound is my goal. Something fresh. Something that everyone can relate to and enjoy, not just Texas and Mexico,” he said.
Rigo is the son of Tejano legend Raulito Navaira and the nephew of late Tejano icon Emilio Navaira, who both influenced his musical journey. He also performed with his sister Destiny as part of the group Remedio, which won a Tejano Music Award for Best New Group in 2016 and Best New Male Artist for Rigo.
Rigo is grateful for the support of his family and fans and hopes to continue making music that honors his legacy and connects with his audience.
“Luna” is available on all digital platforms. Rigo is also working on his debut solo EP, Rodrigo, which is expected to be released in May.
