Jorge Moreno, better known as the California Cowboy, is back in the saddle! This time, he’s taking a bold step into the world of Norteño music. His latest song, “Gaviota,” is a testament to this exciting new direction.
“Gaviota,” a song previously recorded by the legendary Ramon Ayala, has been given a fresh lease of life. Moreno’s rendition is a pure squeeze box tune, a collaboration with the popular band Masizzo. The production was handled by Albert Ramirez of Masizzo, adding another layer of authenticity to the track showcasing Moreno’s roots.
“I have an upbringing of the Norteño style and never was really able to put it in play and put something on record and the idea came up to do a song and myself and Albert Ramirez put together this song that we decided to kind of spice it up with the Masizzo sound behind it and this is what we came up with,” Moreno said in a recent interview with Jonny Ramirez and Bo Leo on Fierro HD on the Audacy app. “I didn’t know how my fans would react to it but I figured it’s worth a shot to show people my third part of who really I am and where I came from.”

He shared his plans to tour this year sparking excitement among fans, who are eagerly awaiting the chance to see the California Cowboy perform live.
