G Music, the record label founded by Tejano star AJ Castillo, has announced its latest signing: Mike Gonzalez and the Iconiczz. The news was shared on Castillo’s Facebook page this week, where he welcomed the band to the G Music family.
The award-winning group will begin recording at Castillo’s new Redwood Studios in San Marcos, Texas, within in the next few weeks with a new single expected to be released in March.
“When I built my studio I realized what I wanted to do was to get the groups here,” Castillo tells Tejano Nation. “He’s one of the ones that I really think has a great opportunity to be successful in the industry. I love what they’re doing. I love their sound. He’s got his band, they’re ready to go, they’re already performing. I think it’s win-win, it’s a slam dunk. As long as we come out with some good music, it’s going to be great!”
Mike Gonzalez and the Iconiczz also expressed their enthusiasm for the new partnership on their own Facebook page. They thanked Castillo and G Music for the opportunity and said they were looking forward to 2024 and the new music they will create.
“Excited for 2024 and the music we’re about to release under G music records,” they posted.
Mike Gonzalez and the Iconiczz are an award-winning Tejano band, led by drummer Mike Gonzalez, who is the son of late Tejano legend Jimmy Gonzalez. The band released their debut album, Te Llevo En Mi Alma, in 2022. They won two trophies at the 43rd Tejano Music Awards last year, including Best New Group, and Best New Female Artist for vocalist Di Marie.
