The 2nd annual Los Chicanos 4 Chiquitos Toy Drive will take place on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Hunter’s Corner, 1806 Quintana Road in San Antonio, Texas. The event will feature performances from Los Chicanos, La 45, Los Banger Broz, and Jay Martinez and The Boys. Admission is free with one toy per person.
Los Chicanos 4 Chiquitos is a charitable initiative started by Los Chicanos band founder Steve Torres, who wanted to use his musical talent to help other people who may be less fortunate. “After we collect the toys on the night of the event, me and my family go the next morning to donate the toys to Mercy Church located on Zarzamora Street,” Torres told Tejano Nation.
Los Chicanos are a San Antonio-based band that plays Conjunto music blending traditional sound with modern influences. Their musical journey began in October of 2019 as an idea and later turned into a reality. Torres said, “My dad has always been a musician his whole life and I started this project because of him. He taught me how to play bajo quinto and how to sing since I was 17.”
The toy drive is a way for Los Chicanos to give back to their community and spread some joy to the children during the holiday season. Torres said he hopes to make this an annual tradition and inspire others to do the same. “We are very grateful for the support we have received from our fans and fellow musicians. We hope to see everyone at the event and make a difference in someone’s life,” he said.
