NASHVILLE, Tenn. — It’s here, just in time for the holidays! Mountain City Records Nashville–La Cara Productions and Tejano Music Awards nominee Laura Denisse Y Los Brillantes are at it again. This time around they’re spreading holiday cheer with their take on the Country Christmas classic, “Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy” (Papi Se Parece A Santa).
“This is an early Christmas gift for all of our fans around the world,” says Laura Denisse.
“Santa Looked a Lot Like Daddy” is a Christmas song co-written and recorded by Buck Owens and Don Rich. After its initial recording in 1965, the song has been covered by several country music artists, but this is the first time it has been translated into Spanish, something Laura Denisse Y Los Brillantes felt was necessary. One listen is all it took, and the band immediately knew they wanted to record and share it with their Spanish speaking fanbase.

“There are certain songs that you sing and leave alone. Others are so good or, in this case, funny, and you wish your abuelita could understand the lyrics. This was one of those songs, so I decided to respectfully translate the lyrics,” added Laura Denise. “We then sprinkled it with our own sazon (seasoning) and Nashville has taken a liking to it, and we’ve had great reviews so far. That lets me know we did the right thing. We hope you have fun with this one.”
In honor of this holiday release, Laura Denisse Y Los Brillantes will be doing some giveaways throughout the month of December so stay connected with the band on social media for your chance to receive a little gift from the band.
“Santa Looks A Lot Like Daddy (Santa Se Parece A Papi)” is available now to download on your favorite digital music platform or at your local Tejano radio station. Enjoy! Happy Holidays y Feliz Navidad!
