Juan Treviño, the acclaimed Tejano singer-songwriter, has won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album for his album Para Empezar A Amar (To Start Loving). This is the second Latin Grammy win for Treviño, who won Best Regional Mexican Song in 2017 for “Siempre Es Asi” (It’s Always Like This).
The award was announced during the Latin Grammy Premiere Ceremony in Sevilla, Spain, on Thursday, November 16. The ceremony honored the winners in most categories of the 24th annual Latin Grammy Awards.
Treviño expressed his gratitude and excitement during his acceptance speech thanking his wife, his team, and the Latin Recording Academy for the recognition.
“Para Empezar A Amar” is Treviño’s latest solo album which features 12 songs which showcases Treviño’s versatility as an artist, blending traditional Tejano sounds with Norteño influences.
Treviño is one of the most respected and influential figures in the Tejano music scene composing songs for many Tejano stars. He later pursued a solo career as a singer and songwriter.
With this win, Treviño joins a select group of artists who have won Latin Grammys in both the songwriting and performing categories. He also reaffirms his status as one of the leading voices of Tejano music in the 21st century.
