The 5th annual Guadalupe Tejano Awards has announced the nominees for the Journalist/Photographer of the Year category, and Tejano Nation is proud to have seven of our talented staff members in the running.
Photojournalist Mariaelena Villarreal; photographers Tommy Gunz, Vic Gonzalez, and Ryan Bazan; and journalists Jina Ink, Juan Morin, and John Henry Medina have been recognized for their outstanding work in covering the Tejano music scene over the past year. They have captured memorable moments, interviewed top artists, and reported on the latest news and events in the industry.
The Guadalupe Tejano Awards is a fan-voted award show that honors the best in Tejano music and culture. Fans can vote online here for their favorite nominees in various categories until October 15, 2023. The winners will be announced on November 19, 2023, at Far West in San Antonio, Texas. The event will feature live performances from Ram Herrera, Grupo Vidal, Laura Linda, Conjunto Cats, and Christi Lux.
“Tejano Nation is honored to have such a dedicated and talented team of staff members who are passionate about Tejano music and culture,” said John Henry Medina, Managing Editor at TejanoNation.net. “We thank our loyal readers and followers for their support and encourage them to vote for their favorite Tejano Nation staff members at the Guadalupe Tejano Awards voting form. We also congratulate all the other nominees and wish them the best of luck.”
The Guadalupe Awards have recognized the best in Tejano each year since 2019. The event was created by veteran Tejano events promoter Andrew Belmarez and is dedicated to the life and heritage of his late mother Guadalupe M. Belmarez, who passed away in 2015. The awards aim to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of Tejano artists who have enriched the musical landscape with their talent and passion.
