CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex.– Fans of Shevi Love, the Tejano singer known for her hits “Solamente Una Vez” and “Me Vale”, were shocked to learn that she was hospitalized after being found unconscious in her home on Thursday night (Sept. 7). According to a family representative, Shevi was taken by ambulance to one of the hospitals in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she lives, and was admitted. She still remains hospitalized as of today.
The family representative also shared some good news: Shevi Love is awake, eating, and in good spirits. However, the family is not disclosing any details or specifics on her health condition or the cause of her unconsciousness. They ask for privacy for Shevi and the family at this time. They also thank her fans and friends for their prayers and support and promise to update them when they have more information on her progress.
Shevi Love released her eponymous solo debut EP in 2018. She received a Best New Female Artist nomination at the 41st Tejano Music Awards in 2021.
The singer’s health was documented in 2019 as she spoke about her cancer battle. “They discovered that I had Thymoma cancer which is cancer of the Thymus gland and some of the immune system,” Love told KZTV 10.
The singer had a softball-sized tumor embedded right behind her sternum. Doctors removed the sack around her heart and half her lung and started immediate radiation. Love was given a five to eight-year lifespan, but has outlived that timeline. Love struggles at times with physical activities, including performing on stage.
Her fans are hoping for a speedy and full recovery.
