If you are a fan of traditional Conjunto music, you will not want to miss the latest release from CHR Records: “Remordimiento,” a new album by Bernardo Y Sus Compadres. This collection of tunes showcases the talent and passion of one of the most respected and celebrated Conjunto artists in Texas.
Bernardo Martinez has been playing and singing Conjunto music for almost fifty years, delighting audiences with his old-fashioned, Taquachito-style dance music. He has also received numerous awards and recognitions for his contribution to the genre, such as being inducted into The Tejano ROOTS Hall of Fame, the Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame & Museum, and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Guadalupe Productions Awards.
“Remordimiento” features Martinez’s distinctive voice and style, as well as the musical skills of his band members: drummer Bernardo Martnez III, bassist Alonzo “Fonz” Martinez, accordionist Charlie Saenz, and Mando Garza on bajo sexto and second vocals. The album also includes a guest appearance by Bernardo’s sister, Ana Martinez, who lends her voice to one of the songs.
Rick Garcia, the CEO and producer of CHR Records, expressed his excitement and honor to have Bernardo Martinez on his label. “I’ve been a part of his recordings for decades, first on De La Rosa Records, then JB Records. Now as part of the CHR family of artists, it’s an honor to continue to preserve the history and legacy of the Conjunto generation,” he said.
“Remordimiento” is an album that will make you dance, sing, and feel the emotion and energy of Conjunto music. You can stream or download it today on your favorite digital platform, or get your physical copy wherever CDs are sold.
