If you love conjunto music and want to support a good cause, don’t miss the 22nd annual El Veterano Conjunto Festival on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at Columbian Civic Center (formerly KC Hall), 2137 US-77 Bypass in Robstown, Texas. The festival honors all US Military Veterans in memory of Conjunto legend Eligio Escobar, father of “La Reina de Conjunto music” Linda Escobar.
The festival features a stellar lineup of conjunto artists, including Los D Boyz with a special performance with Linda Escobar, Javier Solis Y Los Unikoz, David Flores y Los Tremendos Alacranes, Mando y La Venganza, Jesse Gomez y Los Chachos, Cindy Ramos y su conjunto, Los Arias, and Budda y Conjunto Reyes. You can enjoy the music from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, with a raffle for a Hohner accordion and BBQ Brisket sandwiches for sale.
Admission is $15, $25 for couples, and children 12 and under are free. All proceeds benefit the Eligio Escobar Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to students pursuing higher education in music or related fields. This year’s scholarship recipients are Kamila and Bella Urbina, who will be recognized at the festival.
The El Veterano Conjunto Festival is a tribute to Eligio Escobar, who served in the US Army during World War II and was a pioneer of conjunto music. He passed away in 1998, but his legacy lives on through his daughter Linda Escobar, who organizes the festival every year to honor him and all veterans who have served their country.
For more information about the festival, contact lindaescobar@live.com. Come and join us for a day of fun, music, and appreciation for our veterans!
