Cezar Martinez, the lead vocalist for David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales, is working on a solo project which will pay tribute to a Tejano music legend and one of the singer’s biggest influences.
Martinez shared details in an interview with The Keith Leal Show on HoustonsTejanoHits.com. “That whole album in general is something I had already planned on doing prior to COVID. COVID hit and I just put that on the back burner,” he said. “It’s a 20-track album, actually, and ‘Niña No Te Pintes Tanto’ was the only song that I had complete. I released that song and I didn’t release it on any digital music platforms, I just kind of went and did it on Facebook. For those that want it, here it is.”
The album will pay tribute to one of Cezar’s biggest influences, music legend Roberto Pulido.
“For myself, Roberto Pulido has been my all-time favorite Tejano artist,” said Martinez. “He’s always given me opportunity every time I get on stage and sing with him and he’s always given me words of encouragement also. I just felt like I needed to pay homage to a living legend who I consider the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All-Time). The GOAT of Tejano.”
He added he will use the name Cezar Omar for his solo projects. Los Musicales has featured great singers as the legendary group’s lead vocalist, who have gone on to great solo careers, but Cezar assures fans he is still a part of the iconic group.
“Cezar Omar is a solo artist,” he said. “I’m trying to just come up with new music, really for the love of music and the reason I chose that was because, well first of all, Omar is my middle name, and I kind of like all genres of music and let the people know that they can be expecting more music. We’re already working on some new stuff, but just to put that question at ease, I am currently still the lead vocalist for David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales.”
Cezar Omar recently released a duet with Stefani Montiel, “Cuando Me Dé La Gana,” a cover of the hit duet from Christian Nodal and Christina Aguilera. It was produced by award-winning hitmaker Gabriel Zavala, who will produce songs from the upcoming solo project for Cezar Omar.
