Roger Velásquez announces the release of his new album, ¡Buena Vibra!, with his band The Latin Legendz for the San Antonio-based independent record label VDiscos. It’s the eighth studio album by the Latin Grammy Award-winning artist and producer.
The album features original compositions, all written and arranged by Velásquez. In a tradition of originality, ¡Buena Vibra! exudes excellence, creating timeless pieces of modern classics. The record features orchestration containing live strings and robust horn arrangements performed by the Latin Legendz horn section. Velásquez’s performance exhibits that he is in his prime which is demonstrated in all eleven tracks.
¡Buena Vibra! also features guest performances by Jeff Nathanson (formerly of Luis Miguel), Rebecca Valadez (Janet Jackson), Georgie Padilla (Fania All Stars, Bobby Valentin, Frankie Ruiz), and Lee “Sparky” Thomason (Jim Waller Orchestra). The album also includes collaborations with Jim Waller (Los Blues) and introduces jazz master pianist Christopher Villanueva.
Velásquez states, “¡Buena Vibra! is the album I have waited my whole life to make. I have always wanted to create a body of work reflective of my musical journey and the life lessons I have learned along the way. All eleven songs on this album are snapshots in time throughout my life, pivotal moments I felt inspired to memorialize in song. Music that matters to me, rather than the kind that is simply expected of a Tejano. As a citizen of the world, I feel compelled to create music that resonates with my brothers and sisters across the globe.”
¡Buena Vibra! is filled with romance and reverberates with an array of colors and textures. The orhestration is a breath of fresh air in a world full of loops, samples, and canned beats. Real music performed by consummate professionals.
The album’s artwork demonstrates an international mindset. All photos were taken on location in Lisbon, Portugal, and artwork was created by Artists At Play of Medellin, Colombia.
¡Buena Vibra! from Roger Velasquez and The Latin Legendz is scheduled to arrive on all digital music platforms on March 24.
