Destiny Navaira announced via social media that she will release the classic cumbia “Eclipse” as the first track from her upcoming EP paying tribute to songs written by her iconic father, Raulito Navaira.
“’Eclipse’ is a super special song to me,” Destiny tells Tejano Nation. “My dad and my grandfather wrote it together, as well as the concept of the moon and the sun having love for each other but not being able to be together all the time is an incredible concept to me.”
This fan favorite from the iconic Southern Exposure album from Emilio Navaira, released in 1993, has been given a new modern refresh by the Latin Grammy-nominated singer.
“Cumbias are not right now so I wanted to bring this song into the now with the changes we made,” added Destiny. “I hope people will enjoy it and dance to it just like they did when it was first released”
Las Letras de Mi Padre is scheduled for release sometime in late spring. The project is under the direction of Grammy Award-winning producer Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera, as well as always with the guidance of her brother and bassist, Rigo Navaira.
