AUSTIN, TX — Destiny Navaira announced the Latin GRAMMY-nominated singer’s upcoming performance at this year’s international SXSW (South by South West) Music Festival held annually in Austin, Texas.
“I am so excited,” said Destiny “To be able to reach a bigger platform, audience wise is what I am truly striving for.”
After taking her solo career across the border to Monterrey, Mexico, Destiny has pushed the limit when it comes to Tejano Music and what she believes will evolve the genre.
“I know where I come from, but just as important, I know where I want to go,” she said.
The San Antonio native recently received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Tejano Album with her second full-length studio album Dime Cómo Se Siente.
Destiny commented, “I’ve seen now firsthand where and who I want my music to reach, and as a new artist it’s never been more important to me to take control and put myself out there.”
Destiny will be featured at SXSW on March 18 in a Latino Music Showcase at the Sheraton Backyard off of 10th Street in Austin, the only Tejana invited and present in the showcase.
“I’m so proud and grateful for all of the support and this opportunity to share my music with a new crowd,” said Destiny.
Since the beginning of her solo career Destiny has demonstrated fearlessness and versatility in her music, voice, and journey in the world of Mexican music. The singer’s solo debut album, La Preferida, earned her Female Vocalist of the Year at the 41st Tejano Music Awards in 2021, placing her in elite company with Tejano music icons like Selena, Laura Canales, Elida Reyna, Shelly Lares, and Stefani Montiel.
