Michael Longoria Y Conjunto Jamm released their latest single “Palabras Tristes” on January 28, a Conjunto-style cover of the ’90s ballad recorded by Los Yonic’s.
Longoria discovered the song on YouTube. “I felt the melody and it drove me to like it a lot so I decided that I wanted to do a conjunto version,” he tells Tejano Nation about the Kingsville, Texas-based band’s latest track.
“Palabras Tristes” was recorded at RM Records and was produced and arranged, and recorded by Longoria with Conjunto Jamm which includes bassist Johnny Longoria, bajo sexto player Andrew Longoria, and drummer Matt Macias. The tune was mixed and mastered by Larry Pena.
Longoria has been playing the accordion since the age of 10 and recorded his first album when he was 11 years old, and continues to record and tour across Texas. The musician has recorded five albums and is currently working on his sixth album.
The musician was inspired by his father, Johnny Longoria, to perform music while watching his father play with legends within the industry like Tony De La Rosa, Alfredo De La Rosa, and many more, which also influenced Michael Longoria to pick up the accordion and follow his dream.
