Cindy Ramos adds her Conjunto style to cover of ‘Me Estoy Enamorando’

Award-winning Conjunto singer Cindy Ramos released her latest single, her first with her new record label Tejano Powerhouse Records. “Me Estoy Enamorando” is a cover of the 1992 hit song from Tejano supergroup La Mafia, but in the Conjunto style of Ramos.

“We had chosen that one, we just thought it was very danceable for the people in clubs, for people that are going out and dancing. We thought it was just really nice,” Ramos tells Tejano Nation. “Of course we revamped it, we changed it conjunto style so it’s a lot different than how La Mafia did it.”

The Laredo singer won Conjunto Female Entertainer of the Year of the inaugural Guadalupe Conjunto Awards and the former vocalist for Grupo Inocencia decided to return to her Conjunto roots for her latest album

“My first love has always been Conjunto and I was brought up listening to Conjunto music,” said Ramos. “For a while there I liked Tejano more and I was performing it more but I wanted to go back to my roots and when we did our last album, Inicios, it was all Conjunto and that was my passion. That’s where I felt I identified more with Conjunto.”

“My goal is to bring Conjunto to another level,” added Ramos. “A higher level to be more respected and for more females to do Conjunto and there’s very, very few. I’m working hard to get to that goal.”

Legendary Conjunto singer Linda Escobar, known to many as “La Reina de Conjunto” and one of the few women that have succeeded in the male-dominated music genre, recently recognized Ramos with a “passing of the torch” to the rising Conjunto star at Escobar’s birthday celebration last summer.

“It was a great experience,” commented Ramos. “She wanted to do something like passing the torch to another artist. Linda is a beautiful person.”

“Me Estoy Enamorando” from Cindy Ramos y Su Conjunto is available to stream or download on all digital music platforms and plans to release a new Conjunto album later this year.
