SAN ANTONIO, TX — Roger Velasquez & The Latin Legendz, iconic actor-director Jesse Borrego, and cinematographer Aaron Lopez were awarded Video of the Year at the 42nd annual Tejano Music Awards for their music video “Amor del Otro Lado” in San Antonio, Texas on Nov. 26.
The stunning and soaring visual upholds a tradition of unforgettable and cinematic music videos from the Latin Grammy Award-winning Roger Velasquez and the Latin Legendz and San Antonio, Texas-based independent record label VDiscos, upping the ante yet again.
Borrego commented, “Good songs tell good stories. The music Roger and The Latin Legendz created spoke to me of a beautiful soul in a natural setting. The ideal beloved. Beyond bridges and borders, in harmony with the story, Roger and I sang.”
“Amor del Otro Lado” is the lead single from Roger Velasquez & The Latin Legendz album Vision 20/20. Written and produced by Velasquez, recorded and engineered by Joe Trevino at Blue Cat Recording Studio.
Borrego is known for his cultural indie film “Blood In Blood Out,” “Tecumseh,” “Columbiana,” “Dexter,” and more. He is a member of the Academy of Arts & Sciences. Velasquez is a voting member of the Recording Academy of Arts & Sciences and the Latin Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Tejano Hall of Famer.
The Tejano Music Awards was held at the Tech Port Center + Arena in San Antonio, Texas where the category winner was announced at the live awards show. The Video of the Year is the only category that is voted on by film and video industry professionals and not a popularity vote.
