“Austin is incredibly special to me. A lot of memories and performances throughout my career,” said Chris Perez. “I am looking forward to this new project performing at 3TEN ACL Live! Hope to see you all there!”

The performance by Grupo Metál featuring Chris Perez will feature tributes to Prince, Eddie Van Halen, David Bowie, and others, ending with a special tribute to Selena for this upcoming show during a celebration of Diez y Seis de Septiembre and Dia del Grito.

Grupo Metál lead vocalist Carlito Miranda added, “I am excited to be performing for the first time at 3TEN ACL Live. Austin is a very special place for music. It is the Live Music Capitol of the World! Hook’em Horns!”

The San Antonio, Texas-based band was established in 1991 as a Tejano band formed by Carlos Miranda Jr, son of the legendary singer Carlos Miranda. After leaving the band, Carlos Jr changed his name to Carlito and emerged as a solo artist, signing a deal with Sony Records. After touring in support of his first solo album, Carlito decided to venture into another genre – Rock en Espanol under the name Grupo Metál. With an all-star musician lineup, Grupo Metál skyrocketed in popularity, selling out shows all over Texas.

Soon after, Grupo Metál welcomed Chris Perez to the band. The former guitarist for Selena Y Los Dinos and husband of the late Latin music icon was featured on various Selena albums which included hits like “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” “Amor Prohibido,” “La Carcacha,” and “Como La Flor.”

Perez continued his career and earned a Grammy for his solo album Resurrection. Following this success, he joined Los Kumbia Kings for quite some time and after a brief hiatus, he continued to work on several projects including Metál.

Grupo Metál featuring Chris Perez gets the audience dancing and singing as they pay homage to music legends and celebrate life with this band of brothers who share a twenty-year history, connected through their love of music. Chris Perez and Carlito Miranda embark on this journey as they were once fortunate enough to have shared part of history and now these brothers invite you to take part in their story and show, so prepare yourself for a ride with Grupo Metál Ft Chris Perez.
