Tejano newcomer Ruby Anne is hosting a benefit concert with proceeds donated to support many charities in the Rio Grande Valley. The singer from Brownsville, Texas, announced Ruby Anne’s 281 Takeover Tejano Wildfire featuring performances from other rising Tejano stars like herself at 281 Saloon in Brownsville on Saturday, August 27.
“The 281 Saloon has numerous holiday drives throughout the year as I do as well,” Ruby Anne tells Tejano Nation. “My holiday drives consist of the turkey giveaways during Thanksgiving and the four Christmas drives which consist of food and bedding, and toys for the cats and dogs at the animal shelter in Brownsville (BARC). The gifts, cupcakes, and live music for the elderly at the nursing homes, toys for the children at the VRMC Hospital’s Pediatric Unit & ER, and two school units for children with intellectual disabilities.”
Ruby Anne strives to reach more schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and animal shelters and provide meals for families in need for Thanksgiving with proceeds collected from the benefit concert.
“We do have many more drives throughout the year but we are working on these right now,” she said. “The 281 Saloon also has its own drives on Thanksgiving, they close down their venue and feed families in need. They have Toys for Tots at Christmas.”
The 281 Tejano Takeover will feature performances from 13 emerging bands and singers from all over Texas including Magali Delarosa, Anikka, Alicia C, Angel Jimenez, RoXxy, Jenny B, Hilda Lamas, La Charrita Abigail, King of the South Freddy Aviles, WC y Jexal, Grupo Legado de Brownsville, Mark Alaniz y Texas Pachanga, and Ruby Anne.
