An article written this week at MySA.com ranked all nine singers for legendary band David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales, who has been entertaining Tejano fans since 1978. We’ve all debated on who is the best vocalist for one of the most iconic bands en La Onda Tejana.
MySA culture reporter Sarah Martinez placed Emilio Navaira at the top of the list saying the late Tejano and Country singer was a “timeless talent” that “put all his soul into his voice.” Navaira began his career as a Los Musicales vocalist, eventually becoming a legend himself with his solo career, recording many iconic hits and albums before his sudden death in 2016.
“The Voice” Jay Perez was listed second on the list with his “heavenly voice” on many hits for DLG. Marcos Orozco, whose voice featured a “light richness” that “perfectly blends” with the iconic sound of Los Musicales, according to the article, ranked third. Ram Herrera and Mark Ledesma rounded out the top five on the list, while current vocalist Cezar Martinez was listed at No. 7.
