Jay Perez released a teaser video for the Tejano icon’s next highly-anticipated album via the official YouTube channel for the award-winning singer. The visual showcases “The Voice” in the studio with the latest version of The Band working on an album that will be his “best album in 30 years.”
This year, Jay Perez and The Band embarked on a journey together to bring fans their best album in three decades, according to the video.
“This album means everything to me because it is by far, and everything that I’ve heard so far, it took me back to 1993 when I recorded the Te Llevo En Mi album. This by far is my best album in 30 years, that I promise you.”
Te Llevo En Mi was the debut studio album from Perez which peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart earning the singer Best New Regional Mexican Artist at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 1994 and a nomination for Male Entertainer of the Year at the 1994 Tejano Music Awards. The album featured classic hits including “Yo Tengo Un Amor,” “Ella Es” and more.

Jonathan McGraw took over the musical direction of The Band earlier this year after longtime producer and music director Mario Ortiz left to concentrate on his record label.
“What makes this band, my current band so unique is that they bring something to the table that I haven’t had in a long time,” said Perez. “I look forward to my weekends because I know what I’m going to face on stage. I know what kind of energy these guys are going to bring.”
The five-time Latin Grammy nominee continues to entertain fans each year with high-energy shows featuring hits from a career that began in the late 1980s as lead vocalist for Latin Breed, followed by time as lead vocalist with David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales before embarking on his solo career in 1993.
“The connection that I’ve had to my fans is exactly that, I want to be able to connect with them and our fans have been doing that for years now,” said Perez. “They show a lot of support, a lot of love. They know that they’re in when I’m in it and man, that’s a beautiful thing.”
The new album from Jay Perez and The Band is expected to be released in early 2023. It will be the follow-up to El Maestro, released in 2021, that reached the top of the iTunes Latin Albums charts less than 24 hours after its release.
