
It’s that time of year that the owner and founder of the Guadalupe Awards, Andrew Belmarez, is recognizing the best in Conjunto over the past year with the inaugural Guadalupe Conjunto Awards and it’s taking place in different cities across Texas this month. The nominees were announced on June 5.
Cindy Ramos received the most nominations with three including Conjunto Female Entertainer, Song of the Year for “Que Mas Quieres De Mi,” her duet with Tony Saenz, and Conjunto Band of the Year. The Homeboyz received two nominations including Conjunto Band of the Year and Conjunto Album of the Year for their self-titled debut album.
A special thank you to all those who voted, these awards received over 5000 votes and even crossed borders by having votes come in from Mexico, as well.
The kick-off dance for the Guadalupe Conjunto Awards is being held at the Far West Entertainment Center, 2502 Pleasanton Rd., in San Antonio, Texas, on June 24, 2022, from 8:00 pm – 1:00 am with live entertainment featuring Mando Y La Venganza, Conjunto Romo, Conjunto Cats, Cindy Ramos, and JR Reyna.
It doesn’t stop there, the Conjunto bands continue performing on June 25, 2022, at the inaugural Guadalupe Conjunto Awards at La Lomita Park in McAllen Texas, from 5:00 pm – 1:00 am with performances from Javier Solis Y Los Unikoz, Los Dos Gilbertos, Ramon Lucio Y Diamante, Cindy Ramos, Grupo Imagen, and Jimmy Lee & Friends. The Red Carpet event begins at 5:00 pm. Tickets for the event are $15.00 before 6:00 pm, $20.00 after 6:00 p.m. For table reservations contact Kumbia Champs at 830-401-9228. La Lomita Park is located at 11417 S. La Lomita Road in McAllen, Texas.
This will be the first time Guadalupe Productions will host an event the Rio Grande Valley to give recognition to a band or artist, who highly deserves an award in their field. Belmarez wants to shine a light on the Conjunto genre.
