Stevie D is the leading nominee at the 41st annual Tejano Music Awards with four nominations for the “Biggest Night In Tejano Music” that will take place virtually on Saturday, December 11, and broadcast on several Sinclair television stations across Texas.
The singer was nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, Tejano Album of the Year for Estamos Unidos, Song of the Year with “Irremediable,” and Video of the Year for “La Ultima Vez.”
Jonny Martinez received three nominations that consist of Male Vocalist of the Year, Conjunto Album of the Year with Back To Basics, and Collaboration of the Year for “Un Rinconcito En El Cielo” with Eddie Gonzalez.
Other multiple nominees include Destiny Navaira and Patsy Torres, who were both nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year, Navaira for La Preferida, and Torres for Dame Tu Corazon.
Newcomers Marcus Daniels and South TX Homies received two nominations each. Best New Artist Male for Daniels and Best New Group nominations for Daniels with his band Algo Suave, as well as South TX Homies, who also received a nod for Video of the Year with “Ven Conmigo.” Ismael Gutierrez received two nominations, one for Male Vocalist of the Year and another for Collaboration of the Year for “Quiero Ser Tu Jardinero” with Tony Barragan.
Some categories had fewer than the conventional Top 5 nominees due to the unexpected pandemic that put a hold on the music industry in 2020 and caused lower-than-expected and qualified music submissions.
Winners will be announced during the 41st annual Tejano Music Awards on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 8pm CT with virtual performances during a live broadcast on select Sinclair Broadcast Group television stations across Texas including the cities of San Antonio, El Paso, San Angelo, Corpus Christi, Abilene, and Harlingen.
