“The Hometown Boys want to thank vocalist Adrian Gutierrez for his time and help during these few months,” said the post. “God Bless you Adrian in all your future endeavors.”

Gutierrez confirmed the news in a social media post of his own. “It is with a heavy heart I have to confirm that I am no longer with The Hometown Boys,” he said. “My departure was solely MANAGEMENT’S decision. I want to thank Jefe, Rosie, Stevan, and my band members who were like family to me for sharing the stage and giving me the opportunity to honor the legacy of the original Hometown Boys. I want to thank all the fans that believed in me and showed up to our concerts; you all are the reason I gave 110% during every performance. Thank you all, it was such a privilege.”

The Grammy-winning group added the 20-year-old singer as lead vocalist in March 2021 after singer Elias Arredondo was dismissed. Arredondo took over for legendary and longtime lead vocalist Marky Lee in January 2021. Marky Lee passed away from complications of COVID-19 in January shortly after he was let go from the group.

“I hope to continue performing and elevating my craft as an artist,” added Gutierrez. “This is not the end of my journey, I have faith God will continue to open doors for me in the future.”

The last performance for Gutierrez with The Hometown Boys took place at the 17th annual Tejano Music National Convention during Vegas Tejano Music Week in Las Vegas, Nevada on Aug. 21.

Gutierrez released his debut single, “Dejame Vivir,” via Hacienda Records in early 2017 at the age of 16 after the McAllen native won a singing contest in 2016. He also spent time as lead vocalist for Tejano Highway 281.

One of the most celebrated groups of their era, The Hometown Boys started out as a family band many years ago and went on to become one of the most popular conjunto acts in the Southwest. They have been known for hit songs “Mi Ranchito”, “Somos Dos Gatos”, “El Pintor”, and many more great songs. They were the first Hispanics to be inducted into the “Buddy Holly Walk of Fame” in Lubbock, Texas, alongside Buddy HollyRoy OrbisonWaylon Jennings, and other Texas legends.
